A well-established structural steel contractor with a strong reputation across the West Coast is looking for an experienced Project Manager to take the lead on complex structural steel fabrication and erection projects.

You’ll work on significant commercial, infrastructure, aviation, high-rise, and other complex projects while partnering with some of the region’s leading general contractors, developers, engineers, and construction professionals.

What You’ll Do

As Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving successful project execution across safety, quality, schedule, client satisfaction, and profitability .

Project Leadership

• Lead structural steel projects from pre-construction and contract award through fabrication, erection, and closeout
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and project execution plans
• Monitor project financial performance, costs, changes, and risk
• Identify potential issues early and develop practical solutions before they impact the project

Client & Project Coordination

• Serve as a primary point of contact for general contractors, clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders
• Build strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle
• Lead project meetings and coordinate communication between office and field teams
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation

Steel Operations

• Coordinate with engineering, detailing, fabrication, and erection teams
• Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements for constructability and potential issues
• Participate in Design-Assist and pre-construction coordination
• Help develop fabrication schedules and field erection sequencing
• Coordinate procurement, subcontractors, deliveries, and field activities
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and coordination

Team Leadership & Improvement

• Mentor Project Engineers and developing project professionals
• Promote accountability, collaboration, and effective communication
• Identify opportunities to improve project execution, productivity, and profitability
• Support Lean Construction and continuous-improvement initiatives
• Support LEED documentation and sustainable construction practices when applicable

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who combines strong project management skills with real structural steel experience .

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field OR 10+ years of relevant construction management experience
• Proven experience managing structural steel fabrication and erection projects
• Experience with complex commercial, infrastructure, aviation, stadium, high-rise, or similarly challenging projects
• Strong understanding of AISC, AWS, and structural steel construction practices
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, change orders, contracts, and financial performance
• Strong understanding of fabrication, detailing coordination, and field erection
• Excellent communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while coordinating office and field teams
• Willingness to travel periodically to project sites throughout California

Preferred

• Experience with Design-Assist and other collaborative delivery models
• Lean Construction experience
• Experience with Procore, Tekla EPM, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with LEED and sustainable construction practices
• Previous experience coordinating structural steel detailing and fabrication workflows
